China in recent days has been working on a new law that recently went through the National People's Congress (NPC) last week. There have been numerous issues with neighbors and other people breaking into other homes and trying to steal belongings and going so far as parts of the house. There were even a few reports of houses being broken in stating that even their toilets were missing.
After many local populations have stressed it is becoming a more widespread issue around China the local politicians promised they would try to solve the problem through legislation. After many months of negotiation the CCP wrote out a new law and put it forward.
We spoke with a random person online about what the bill includes and what it may mean for individual citizens. As they stated "after reading through the law it stated that citizens if someone breaks into your home and tries to steal your personal belongings whether property or things within the home both people involved would have to take it through the court system per the Organic Law of the People's Courts of the People's Republic of China (中华人民共和国人民法院组织法). Then it can be determined who receives which items that were initially stolen either the previous owner or the thief the broke in. The law seems to put many more legal protections on the thief and states that the owners should be willing to give up a certain percent of their belongings if someone manages to break in." Although many seem to think its an odd direction to take general ownership it seems China has determined ownership only matters as long as no one they like more contests the ownership. Since the new law has taken effect we have heard rumors that there has been a dramatic increase of break-ins all over. When we reached to a person familiar with the Chinese government stated that the new law is simply put in place to enforce peaceful interaction between criminals and other citizens.
